| Gelett Burgess, poet and humorist (1866-1951), penned this often quoted quatrain around the end of the nineteenth century. In the 1950's the poem inspired Andy Anderson of the Brayton Laguna Pottery Company to create the above bovine duo. One art form has inspired another with humor the focal point in both. Our udder filled mama cow is 8" long and 5½" tall. And Baby calf, no doubt with his eye on dinner, is 5½" long and 4" tall. A tiny ding on the ear of the calf has been professionally and invisibly restored. Mama cow is perfect and, as can be seen, sports the poem that made Burgess famous.
