| One of the bottom marks on this
exquisite figurine simply reads "American Fisherman." The bottom also reveals the artists initials, a large "C" embracing a smaller "P." The Gort logo stamped in green under the glaze is shown and the words C A 1870. Has the artist captured the American Fisherman around the year 1870? A book on Gort is hopefully forthcoming to shed light on some of Gort's remarkable figurines. This fisherman is not perfect. He has undergone a restoration to his left arm and his right leg.
