Jane Callender's specialty was dog figurines. She used fine strands of clay to form the hair on this Afghan. Indeed, all her dogs were treated with this spaghetti-like detail. As one can see, the back and face is glazed. Use your mouse on the lower photos to see the bottom of this attractive fellow. Jane's signature oval logo is barely visible in the lower right photo with "#95" present in the center. A contemporary of such noted California artists as Kay Finch and Hedi Schoop, Jane was creating her figurines in the 1940's and 1950's. Old #95 Afghan here is 6" long, 3" tall and 4" wide.
