MONUMENTAL HARRIS STRONG TILE TITLED "FISHERMEN"

"Fine and early twelve-tile horizontal triptych panel titled "Fishermen" (no. RW-3, 1952-58), with men carrying a large net on a sunny beach, in bright hues of orange, white and blue, outlined in squeeze-bag, inlaid in walnut." The above quote is from "The Tiles of Harris G. Strong," an exhibit at the Manhattan Triple Pier Show, February 1995. Text was written by Suzanne Perrault of the Dave Rago Gallery. The back of this monumental tile carries the heart-shaped hangars characteristic of the Harris Strong tiles with the letters "RW-3." A yellow ink stain is also present indicating an identification label that has peeled off. The tile is 18" x 60" and it is in excellent condition. No chips, cracks or repairs.
